I'm playing catch-up and posting late today, but I wanted to share this darling project with you. It was on my Christmas Craft To-Do List last year, but I never got around to it. 1), I didn't have time and 2) I hadn't come across any extra Scrabble letters. In the last few months my sister's boyfriend found not one but TWO old games at thrift stores for me. Yes, he's a keeper. Thanks Micah! So this year, with plenty of letters to choose from, the kids and I had some fun making these.
My inspiration came from Gina at The Shabby Creek Cottage, but we varied her idea a bit to make them our own.
Rather than hot gluing the tiles to the ribbon, we used Glue Dots just in case we want to take them apart and use them for something else later. We used one dot per letter, but after they've been on the tree for a few days, I'd recommend 2. I've been picking up letters that have fallen off. :)
We used a dab of hot glue to fold a loop over on the top for hanging, and to attach the bow at the top and bell at the bottom.
I know that Scrabble games are a hot item at thrift stores and garage sales because there are so many fun things you can do with the letters, but if you'll keep an eye out I've seen them new for around $6-7 this time of year.
Half of the fun is coming up with good words for your ornamnent.
Have you made a good craft for Christmas? I'll see you tomorrow with a new project in my kitchen..if you follow me on Instagram (Jenniferdimplesandtangles), you got a sneak peek!
